General information will be posted here following an information session held on January 29, 2019 at p.m. Thesis Information Presentation 2019 All honors psychology students registered in the 4th year of the Honors Specialization programs in Psychology and Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience are required to take Psychology 4850E - Honors Thesis or Psychology 4851E – Honors Thesis (Science) or Psychology 4852E-DCN.

Psychology 4851E is reserved for students in the Honors BSc Psychology program who wish to count their thesis toward the 6.0 credits of "Science-approved" Psychology courses that the student must take as part of this module.

At least 60 days before such a course is taught, the syllabus must be submitted to the Graduate School for approval.

To that end, the following requirements for the teaching of graduate courses are established: S-U Graded Doctoral Courses (ALL 8XX courses, with the exception of those specifically listed at the end of this section, are restricted to the following classification of students: MR, DR, SR, SP and GR) Master’s students going on to pursue a Ph. If are interested in applying to complete an Honours Thesis in 2019-20 please consider the information below and complete the application procedures by the deadlines.Knowledge and understanding During the Master's Thesis course, the student shall: Within the framework of the Master's Thesis course, you will explore different ways of finding information, defining the scope of a project and doing research, as well as different ways of communicating the results. You will work in pairs to do most of the assignments.The Master's thesis course includes the stages of defining a topic and formulating a problem statement, selecting and reviewing relevant literature, designing an empirical study as well as performing it, including data collection and analysis, analysing the empirical data, make theoretical conclusions and finally writing and rewriting a written report called a Master's thesis. Syllabus Requirement for Graduate Courses The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires that graduate courses be taught by faculty with an earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. The courses are all variable credit, but none are zero credit courses. coursework during their last semester of the master’s degree instead of 689, 695, or 699 provided they have completed the master’s degree requirements.If you are a 3rd year DCN student you need to contact the head of the DCN program during your 3rd year to discuss plans for your honors thesis project and supervision.All other students must register for Psychology 4850E (including HBSc students supervised by psychology faculty members who are conducting research that does not fall under the NSERC mandate, e.g., SSHRC research areas).The following grades will be used: VG (pass with distinction), G (pass), and U (fail).In order to pass the Master's Thesis course, students need to complete all mandatory course elements and to hand in an approved thesis within the prescribed time limit.
